In addition to the classic lutes and guitars and I come with my studies in museums or working with literature sources over again on very interesting instruments that do not occur in the everyday life of a luthier so often. Examples are the Colascione or Orpheoreon, the variety of Cittern or Vihuelas. All these instruments are unfortunately far too few in the musical life represented. They are a part of music history and should as a solo instrument and as a member of the ensemble for music practice to include in modern times.
For me as lutemaker (and physicists) are the few original source of a very interesting study. So I find always new instruments to produce a replica. Some I have examined in context of project works, documented and built. If you are interested in such an instrument, or you have requests for instruments that you can not find, so please write me.
Several years ago I had the chance, to study an original viol from a lutemaker from Ingolstadt from the 17th Century. I was so impressed that I built the viol - for me personally to play. Also a "silent" gamba can be found on the following pages
